Turbulence 2025

an interdisciplinary circus performance about climate migration

UNDER DEVELOPMENT

Chinese pole, Cyr wheel, rola bola, double acrobatics and live music meets the absurd, tragicomic and the grotesque when 5 circus artists are thrown into a battle to build a home in a world of extreme weather that requires them to move at all time.

TURBULENCE examines the effects of climate change on ordinary people and the bodily experience of being on the run in a turbulent, brutal and unpredictable world. The performance will be created through a collective process that operates at the cross-roads of contemporary circus, live music and physical theatre.

The performance is inspired by materials (news, interviews, images, etc) from real stories of global climate migration. The aim is to use circus, physicality and live music to create a symbolic world in which the audience can recognize their daily lives and to draw attention to the uneven impact of climate crisis on particular bodies, cultures and nations and prompt the audience to question: how do our daily choices – and our political choices – impact the rest of the world?

With few words and objects, Turbulence will create an awe-inspiring and thought-provoking artistic experience on migration and global warming that mixes both light and dark elements and present the tragicomic condition of being a human today.

TURBULENCE will bring together circus artists from the Nordic Region who have a combination of circus disciplines and music skills that are integral to create the vision of the performance:
