Hr. X 2022
A TRAGICOMEDY ABOUT
STRESS AND CARE
Hr. X
Meet an overworked nurse and the faceless patients that make up the many x's on his nightly checklist.
In HR. X (MR. X) Out of Balanz invites the audience into a darkly comic and musical journey full of poetic beauty and brutal humor. The performance is inspired by conversations with nurses and is based on a true story about a nurse working in home care. Based on an interview with an anonymous nurse working in home care, who has shared their experiences from a busy day filled with more patients than there is time to look after, stress and burnout.
“You start your work when most people go home. And you put a lot of yourself into the work. You feel a total sense of commitment. Until you finally find yourself, as I did, in a state of exhaustion... ”
For almost 100 years, politicians around the world have viewed the Nordic countries as model nations. Denmark has on several occasions been named the world's happiest country, but has the grip on happiness slipped out of our hands? And what happens to a society when the system stretches legs for those who want to care for others?
HR. X has received generous support from Statens Kunstfond, Beckett Fonden, Københavns Scenekunstudvalg, with development support from Udviklingsplatformen for Scenekunst and production support from Teater FÅR302 and AFUKscene.

“If you watch enough theater, now and then you can be lucky enough to come across a truly strange and original piece of performance. Hr. X is one of those.”
