GEORGETTE VA AU SUPERMARCHE 2007
A SIX-WOMAN COMIC EXTRAVAGANZA ABOUT THE VERY REAL (AND OFTEN SURREAL)
DANGERS OF CONSUMERISM.
Georgette is shy and reserved. A young woman with simple desires, she would like to be like others. If only she could rid herself of those silly little dreams and desires within…
Absurd and grotesque, Georgette Va Au Supermarche is an unforgettable shopping trip. Discover the dangerous world of contemporary consumerism hidden behind discount signs and underneath shinny cans.
Georgette Va Au Supermarche interrogates the intense and unobtainable pressure on women to be and look perfect, as well as the persistence of gender inequality in the division of domestic labour.
Georgette Va Au Supermarche was conceived and devised in collaboration with Ici Est La. It was developed in residence in Santa Maria Da Feira, Portugal, at Teatro Cine A. Lamoso where it premiered in 2007. It subsequently toured to the CREARC Festival in Grenoble and Theater 14 in Paris, France.
