EXTINCTION (UNDER DEVELOPMENT) 2018 -2019
A Research and Development Project about our contemporary compulsion towards annihilation
It's 2 minuted to midnight.
In 2018 the Doomsday Clock - a potent symbol of scientific concerns about humanity’s possible annihilation - was set the closest it's been to midnight since the 1950s. The primary reason for this calculation: the current nuclear landscape and climate change.
We've embarked on a research and development project for a multiple character hybrid performance in which a variety of stories - from the first species to go extinct to the current threat of the nuclear bomb - collide and form a show that questions our concept of the future, examines our understanding of the events that have led to the Sixth Extinction, and attempts to understand how we’ve started to slide back into a cold war nuclear scare climate.
This development project has received generous support from Statens Kunstfond Scenekunstudvalg, as well as residency and development support from Teaterøen and The Academy of Untamed Creativity.
