Awake was commissioned by Kitt Johnson for X-Act's Mellemrum Festival - a bi-annual site-specific festival that ran in Copenhagen from 2008 until 2014, supported by the Danish Arts Council. Awake was developed at the Frederiksholm Kirke in Sydhavnen.
