I'M SO Close 2010

WEAVES  TOGETHER  MODERN  TECHNOLOGY, NEOLITHIC-ERA ARCHEOLOGY, AND A LOVE STORY

Technology allows us to communicate instantly across oceans, and develop relationships with those who we have never even met. But at what cost? As technological advances hit the market at an accelerating rate one has to ask: how connected are we really?

In I’m So Close… Steve finds himself plunged into the fast-paced world of billion dollar business in his desire to make the world a greener place. His success propels him to dive more and more into his iPhone and to drift further and further away from his wife, Stella.

I’m So Close…is a heartbreaking love song, droned out by the hum of the technological landscape that is bringing us together and pushing us apart.

I'm So Close... received generous support from Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, Toronto Arts Council, The Theatre Centre (Toronto) and The Theatre Centre Residency program, Bridging That Gap Exchange, Rumble Productions (Vancouver), Playwrights Theatre Centre (Vancouver), and AFUK (Copenhagen). The show premiered at The Summerworks Festival, Toronto and subsequently toured to The 2008 Dublin Fringe Festival. It re-premiered in 2010 as part of The Theatre Center’s Freefall Festival/ Harbourfront’s Worldstage Festival and the Tremors Festival in Vancouver.
